Whatever happened to Speech Recognition for everyday computing?
I understand that you can purchase an entire software suite that would give you extensive Speech/Voice recognition functionality on the desktop. But that is not the functionality I am looking for. I’d like to use speech recognition to invoke actions . I am looking for Quick and efficient action oriented Speech Recognition, which is readily available across the spectrum (desktop/smartphones/tablets)
What I and potentially millions of other users are looking for is “integrated speech recognition functionality” for the day to day tools and technologies we use. I am looking for speech recognition for the simple tasks that billions of users perform each day. Tasks such as:
We’ve seen successful adoption of this technology in the Gaming world. Little success on the smart phone platform. Plus the comprehensive solution for the desktop. But there is no consolidated movement for trying to bring this technology into the folds of everyday computing. Action oriented Speech recognition could very well be that first step.
Speech Recognition Software companies like Nuance and the Googles/Apples should take note here.
Help us save time, limit our dependency on physical input devices and invariably reduce repetitive hand/eye strain.
