Building a hypothetical upon another hypothetical. This is going to be interesting.
I am feeling very inspired after learning more about Ray Kurzweil. So, today, I put on my #futurist hat.
Hypothetically speaking, if we do end up entering an age of abundance. Then, simple logic/deduction leads me to think that we should be able to build very rapidly.
Hence, it would not be illogical to assume that we’d be entering this ‘hyper era of transformation’. That this age would be occurring almost concurrently with the coming (hypothetical) age of abundance.
Why hyper? Well, this will be a world that is going to go through many rapid transformations in a very limited amount of time. Maybe rapid is a better term to use.
Never before in the history of the world, would have humans imagined, conceived, creatively destroyed in a Schumpeter sense (disruption is a better word. I think?) and then re-built something on such a short time scale.
Unlike some of the transformations from the past. These changes will not require a century or a couple of decades to be carried through. In fact, if we ‘end up redefining how work is conducted‘. Then, some of the changes could be implemented in months, if not days.
That redefining, how work is conducted on a macro scale. That’s another blog-post. Massive engines for crowd-sourcing comes to mind. (amongst many other things).
Keeping the existing change of pace into consideration and depending on where you’d focus. These changes could prove to be dazzling, confusing, scary to some and exciting opportunities to others. It might even comes as a surprise to the various structures of power and governance all over the world. Unless these structure too, learn to anticipate, adapt, move towards clusters of ‘network based models’ and start harnessing the tides of change.
As with most situations. After the initial level of ‘chaos’, some ‘constants’ will eventually start to emerge. I put on my Kurzweil hat and not my Nostradamus hat. No idea when these constants will emerge. If you may recall, this though-experiment is a hypothetical built upon another hypothetical:
Probable Constants (in random order)
