I'm one of those heavy users of Youtube. There's a wealth of good information on Youtube.
I also happened to be going through some of my older blogposts.
Youtube didn’t have a very robust offering 6 years ago. It was video on the Internet and that was pretty much it (no HD, no playlists, no social or analytics tied in with their offering). Youtube’s competitors were Viacom, Joost and a couple others.
But I must say, Youtube has turned out to be a revolutionary product. They will redefine how the species consumes content. They will help revolutionize politics, education, advertising, journalism e.t.c The scope and impact of what Youtube can actually disrupt, would only be limited to Google’s imagination.
Kudos to Google for sticking with their instincts. Investing and sticking with a product that wasn’t even profitable for the first couple of years. Even if Youtube manages to break even, it’s going to be prove to be a great service to the species.
Well done Google. Well done indeed.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I am going to go watch some Ray William Johnson @ Youtube
